Wednesday, June 1, 2022 – Lieutenant Governor Antoinette Perry, today, unveiled a garden at Government House marking The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Her Honour is pleased to join her Canadian vice-regal colleagues in this national initiative establishing a garden in their own province and territory to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70 years of devoted service as Queen of Canada.“This garden will be a living tribute to Her Majesty, who has served with extraordinary commitment for seven decades,” said Her Honour.
Each of the 13 gardens is specific to, and is symbolic of, their local planting climates and locations. As well, each office received tobacco seeds from plants grown and harvested in a good way from the Chapel Royal Tobacco Beds in Waterdown, Ontario and have been included in our garden. Plants chosen for the garden honour our Sovereign and are representative of our first settlers; Mi’kmaq, French, English, Irish and Scottish.
The Prince Edward Island Platinum Jubilee Garden is located at Government House in Charlottetown.
